Baku seaport development on agenda

A regular meeting of the Black Sea Economic Cooperation (BSEC) organization held in Istanbul December 11-12 prioritized the development of Baku international seaport, a member of the working group from Azerbaijan Ikram Sadikhov told AssA-Irada Saturday.
Of other important road-plans of the organization, integration with the European transport system, in particular development of the Caucasus network, including Azerbaijan, an important link in Euro-Asian transport corridor, was highlighted.
One of the disputable issues raised was the merger of TRACECA and PETRA (Pan-European Transport Zone). It was decided to boost the development of cooperation between the corridors, but not their merger.
The next meeting of the organization is scheduled for February, while transport ministers of BSEC member states are expected to get together in March 2001.*
