Xocali massacre remembered worldwide

 
The Xojali massacre, in which hundreds of Azerbaijani civilians were slaughted by the Armenian military, is being commemorated worldwide, inpsired by the opposition-minded Qarabag Liberation Organization.
On February 25, 1992, Armenian troops supported by Russia's motorized infantry regiment 366 occupied the Xocali district of Azerbaijan and razed it to the ground. As a result, 613 people were murdered horribly, eight families were wiped out, 150 people went missing, some 1,000 civilians were disabled, while 1275 persons were taken captive with 700 of them still to be freed.
A number of undertakings have been conducted in Kazakhstan, Estonia, Georgia, USA, Belgium, England, France, and other countries.
Members of the Azerbaijani Culture circle in Ankara and Azerbaijani students studying in Turkey have conducted a protest outside the UN office in Turkey.  A petition was submitted to the UN office.
Rally-marches have been organized in 48 Russian cities, including a protest action held in front of the Armenian embassy in Moscow.
The World Azerbaijani Congress has informed AssA-Irada that events relating the 11th anniversary of the Xocali massacre will last till February 26.
Ethnic Azeris in Tehran, Tabriz, Urmiya, Ardabil and other Iranian regions will climb to the top of their houses to chant Qarabag is our land and will be ours, Long Live Azerbaijan, Persian, Russian, Armenian - enemies of Turks, Away with Persian, Russian, Armenian bigotry and etc.
Rally demands
A number of rallies were held to mark the 11th anniversary of the tragedy.
The rallies appealed to international organizations, demanding that the Xocali massacre be denounced as a genocide against the Azerbaijani people and Armenia be condemned as an aggressor, UN Security Council resolutions 822, 853, 874 and 884 be observed, sanctions be imposed on Armenia in compliance with the principles of international law and that the OSCE Minsk Group co-chairmen take resolute steps in settleing of the Qarabag conflict.
About 15,000 people attended the rally, held by the ruling New Azerbaijan Party outside the Qalaba cinema on Friday, involving political parties and NGOs represented in the pro-governmental Consulting Assembly.
The Qarabag Liberation Organization marched on Saturday despite severe weather, chanting No to Armenian terrorism,  Xocali murderers to Justice, Qarabag or death. Speakers on the square said that the massacre was perpetrated before the eyes of the world, but international organizations had not expressed an impartial attitude towards the aggressor's moves, and four UN resolutions had not been complied with.
Rally participants demanded that the OSCE Minsk Group end its ineffectivness regarding Qarabag and that the UN Security Council, OSCE and Council of Europe ensure the execution of UN SC resolutions.
Calling to account perpetrators of the Xocali massacre like Robert Kocaryan, Qukasyan and Levon Ter-Petrosyan, the protesters also demanded the government present a report to the people on results of negotiations concerning the Qarabag problem during their ten years in power. The protesters insisted parliament discuss the issue and make a legal and political review of the tragedy.
