YOUNG FASHION DESIGNER

third in int'l festival

13-year old Narmina Valiyeva has occupied third place in an international fashion contest in Moscow, President of Azerbaijan Fashion Association Zamir Huseynov told a news conference Monday.

Representing Azerbaijan in the first international show of child fashion, First Step, N. Valiyeva offered a collection that got good feedback.

Occupying first and second places were designers from Moscow and Saint Petersburg.

PHOTO SHOW ON INVALIDS

A photo exhibition "A handicapped man - a new view" organized by the Society of Invalids Lotos with support from the Azerbaijan Union of Photographers opened at the Center of Culture in Baku Tuesday.

50 works by more than 10 photographers portraying disabled people are being displayed in the show, which will last for a month.

GERMAN ARTIST'S BAKU DISPLAY

A personal exhibition "Love of life color" of the German artist, who is working in the Hyatt Company in Baku, opened at the Qiz Qalasi (Maiden's Tower) gallery Friday. Some 30 works in abstract expressionism style are being demonstrated in the show. The exhibition will be underway for 10 days.

SYMPOSIUM ON EGYPTIAN WRITER

A two-day scientific symposium on the creative activities of the Egyptian writer Yusif Al Sibai opened at the Center of Culture of the Egyptian embassy in Baku Monday, with an exhibition demonstrating some 60 of his works.

Director of the center Saleh Masali told the symposium that the books on display would be donated to Azeri universities where Arabic is taught. A feature film based on the book of Yusif Al Sibai was shown as part of the symposium Tuesday.
