Azeri share in world oil output tipped

bp is expected to invest $1.5 billion in the implementation of projects in Azerbaijan, bp Managing Director and Chief Executive of bp's Global Exploration and Production business Dick Oliver said in Baku last week.

According to him, Azerbaijan will produce a tenth of the world's crude output after the projects are successfully accomplished.

Oil pumping via North pipeline resumed

Pumping of export oil through the Baku-Novorossiysk pipeline was resumed Thursday evening after suspension due to technical reasons a few days ago. The oil pumping plan for May makes up 135,000 tons and 76.6 tons has already been transported.

SOCAR is planning to export 59,000 tons of crude more by the end of May to fulfill the plan.

Azeri, Russian experts to develop Caspian seabed

Experts from the Azeri and Russian Foreign Ministries have completed a draft agreement in Moscow on delineation of coastal borders to jointly exploit Caspian seabed.

The document is expected to be signed during a meeting of Azeri and Russian Presidents in St. Petersburg, Russia in June, according to the Azeri Foreign Ministry.

Offshore drilling plan over-fulfilled

Oilmen drilled 4556 meters offshore in April, or 11% over the plan, as Bayil Limani bored 2100 meters with the plan of 2000 meters, according to SOCAR. Gum Adasi drilled 1181 meters (with the projection of 1150 meters), Neft Dashlari - 586 meters (675), Pirallahi - 410 (280), and STS - 180 (180).

However, the total drilling target over the first four months were failed by 15%, with 16,163 meters bored instead of 19,029 meters. The shortage came due to the backlog on the Bulla Daniz field, where a footage of 1950 meters should have been covered, and the failure of Neft Dashlari of the four month plan by 1947 meters.

SOCAR buyig parts for gas compressors

SOCAR has announced an open tender for procurement of repair sets and spare parts for motorized gas compressors at its own expenses. The tender will be held in two lots, as the first envisions purchase of 14 repair sets with the supplying deadline being July-October 2002 and February-July, while the second allows for procurement of spare parts with the closing date of July-September 2002 and January-June 2003. Bidders may apply to the SOCAR foreign economic relations department before June 28 this year. Bids are welcome before July 10, with their unsealing scheduled for July 11 at SOCAR.

bp holds show-presentation in Aberdeen

bp organized a show-presentation in Aberdeen, Scotland Thursday. Taking part in the event were representatives from firms and companies interested in bp implemented projects in the Caspian, the Baku-Tbilisi-Ceyhan oil and the Baku-Tbilisi-Erzurum gas pipeline.

Workshops and lectures on bp's further plans were also held as part of the exhibition. SOCAR representatives hadn't attended the event, as representing Azerbaijan in the show were specialists from bp's Baku Office.

British Energy Minister to arrive for Caspian conference

The UK's Energy Minister Brian Wilson is scheduled to arrive in Baku on June 3 to take part in the traditional exhibition-conference Caspian Oil & Gas-2002, due in Baku from June 4 till 7, British ambassador Andrew Tucker told AssA-Irada Monday.

Mr. Wilson is expected to meet government officials in the Azeri capital.
