PRESIDENT ALIYEV ACCEPTS SUMMIT INVITATION
Azeri President Heydar Aliyev has had a phone conversation with his Turkmen counterpart Safarmurad Niyazov Friday, as the two exchanged views on issues of bilateral cooperation, especially collaboration in the Caspian.
President Niyazov invited the Azeri President to the summit of Caspian nations, due in Ashgabat on April 23-24. President Aliyev accepted the invitation, the Presidential Press Service said Saturday.
CHINESE FILM WEEK IN BAKU
A Chinese film week is due in Baku as part of the tenth anniversary of diplomatic relations between China and Azerbaijan. A Chinese movie "My parents" directed by Tzyan Imo was demonstrated in the opening ceremony of the week at the Azerbaijan cinema. The film was the laureate of the Berlin film festival in 1998.
The week with four Chinese movies is underway at the Film House.
HARPER MAGAZINE EDITOR IN BAKU
Chief editor of the famous US Harper Magazine Paul Roberts arrived in Baku Monday to collect data on the history, culture and oil sector boom in Azerbaijan.
Mr. Roberts is expected to interview SOCAR President Natig Aliyev, first Vice-President Ilham Aliyev and other executives, according to the company.
The guest is also going to meet with refugees and IDPs living in tent towns.
