IDP resettlement underway

The Azerbaijan branch of the International Federations of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies is implementing a program, “Alikhanli –restoration and recovery”, which envisions the resettlement of 140 IDP families currently dwelling in makeshift tents in Saatli, Sabirabad and Bilasuvar provinces in the village of Alikhanli of Fuzuli province. The branch has asked the Norwegian and Swiss Red Cross societies for $100,000 for the implementation, with part of the funds received, the IFRC&RC Baku office said Friday.

The Azerbaijan National Agency for Mine Action, also involved in the program, has already de-mined the village. The program is expected to complete next year.

Meanwhile, the Federation has finished the construction of 150 houses for IDPs to resettle in Shukurbayli village of Fuzuli, while 17 houses are still being built.*
