HIV-infected number 335

There are 335 HIV-infected people in Azerbaijan, including 20 expatriates and 315 Azeri nationals. 130 have been infected outside Azerbaijan. This was announced in a news conference at the AIDS Prevention Center Wednesday.

The growing rate of the infection is very alarming, as 87 HIV-contacted people were registered in 9 months of this year as opposed to only 47 last year.

A documentary film about 24 Azeris who have died of AIDS was demonstrated during the conference. The film was shot by the "Imdad SOS" association with financial support from ISAR program.*
