Beaches unprepared for summer season

The seaside season is officially starting on May 15, but none of the 20 beaches in the Baku and Absheron zone are ready for visitors, the only exception being a few privately owned ones. Most have no warning signs, while the seabed has not been inspected in 6 or 7 years, which makes bathing extremely unsafe, says deputy chief of the State Department on Rescue on Waters Sahib Ismayilov.

According to him, the rescuers, for their part, are ready for the season and are expected to shift to a new schedule since May 15. 34 teams comprising a diver, a motorist and a sailor have been set up. For the first time, rescuers will wear a special outfit, he said.*
