Azeri woman held hostage in Daghestan freed

An Azerbaijani woman held hostage in the Russian republic of Daghestan has been released.

Nisbat Farhadova, a resident of the Azerbaijani capital Baku, had called the Interior Ministry’s service in charge of duty centers, and informed the law enforcers that she had been locked up in a village of the Kyzylyurt district. According to her, the kidnappers - five to six individuals - had presented themselves as employees of the prosecutor’s office and police officers, the ministry said. The outlaws had demanded a $200,000 ransom.

Further, investigators of the Azerbaijan Interior Ministry informed their counterparts in Daghestan about the scene of the crime and other details. Farhadova was subsequently set free in a special operation and was able to return home, while the criminals were seized.*
