The Humay Awards - The Award Category 'Best Azeri Internet Project'

Baku, February, 22, 2002 - The HUMAY Awards, the Independent National Public Prize Competition, with technical support from BakuPages.com, is accepting nominations for the award category "Best Azeri Internet Project".

Websites and pages designed by Azeri citizens and websites and pages about Baku or Azerbaijan designed by foreigners are eligible to be entered in the Competition.

Entries will be accepted until 12 noon, Baku time, on 15 March 2002.

The determination of nominees is carried out based on new rules. The HUMAY Academy has established the professional Internet jury board that would evaluate accepted websites within 10 days after the end of the application deadline. Recommendations of professional jurors and a list of projects that accumulated points for the top 3 places will be presented to the the HUMAY Academy by the end of March 2002. The academy will further decide on a winner of the HUMAY Award for the year 2001.

The Professional Internet Jury Board:

• Rufat Aslanbekov - Programmer, publicist, author of "RUNET" terminology, which means RUssian [speaking] interNET.

• Vadim Derkach - Programmer, designer, writer. Founder of http://www.bakupages.com (http://www.baku.ru).

• Javid Huseynov - Computer scientist, founder and moderator of www.azerbaijan-america.org

• Dmitry Leonov - programmer, founder and lead of http://www.bugtraq.ru server, one of the authors of "Attack on Internet", a popular book in computer security.

ABOUT HUMAY AWARDS

The HUMAY (or "Success of the Year") Awards were founded by the Bakinets International Cultural Society in August 1993. Award nominees are chosen by the country's creative unions and by the Bakinets Cultural Society. Award-winners are selected by members of the HUMAY Academy.
