Azeri-Turkish diplomatic ties turn 10
A conference to mark the 10th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Azerbaijan and Turkey was held at the Presidium of the National Academy of Sciences Monday.
Attending the conference organized by the Azerbaijan Ataturk Center were Turkish ambassador to Azerbaijan Unal Cevikoz, foreign minister Vilayat Guliyev, chief of the President Office foreign relations department Novruz Mammadov and other officials.
Speakers at the event, former Turkish embassy official in Baku Bilal Simsir, director of the Eurasian Center for Strategic Researches Yashar Kalafat, director of the Center for Economic Reforms Rasim Hasanov, and deputy foreign minister Araz Azimov, elaborated on the establishment of diplomatic relations, the social and cultural traits of the Azeri-Turkish contacts, the present-day and prospective economic ties between the two countries, and military cooperation and security issues.
The Turkish embassy gave a reception at the Europe Hotel of Baku on the same day, with Azeri President Aliyev in attendance.
