Foreign minister partaking in EuroAtlantic Council meeting
Azeri foreign minister Vilayat Guliyev is taking part in the annual meeting of the foreign ministers of the EuroAtlantic Partnership Council member states in Brussels.
In his address, the Azeri minister touched upon the necessity of combating terrorism and elaborated on the role Azerbaijan is playing in this fight and the hardships the country is facing. Min. Guliyev said that Azerbaijan would continue active participation in the Nato Partnership for Peace program.
Speaking of the Garabagh conflict, V. Guliyev said Armenian populations in Upper Garabagh don't have legal ground to claim for self-determination and justify the occupation of Azeri lands. He said it was impossible to realize national self-determination at the expense of occupying the lands of another nation. Min. Guliyev reaffirmed Azerbaijan's adherence to a negotiated solution to the dispute, saying that any decision to be made in this regard should be based on the principles of territorial integrity and international law.
The Azeri minister is continuing his meetings in the Belgian capital, the MFA said in a statement Friday.
