 | French scholars defy "Armenian genocide" |
The Research Center of Turkish-Armenian relations has undertaken extensive activities to prove false the so-called "Armenian genocide". Even French historians involved in the work have vehemently dismissed the embellished genocide claims.
The Azernews Istanbul correspondent Dursun Ozden says the Center, functioning under Ataturk University in Erzurum, has collected around 500 documentary evidences from Azeri and Russian sources that impeach the essence of the genocide allegations.
According to the Center's director Ertogrul Kurkcioglu, Russian artillery unit commander Khlebov, who served in Erzurum in 1918, wrote in his recollections that it was Armenians who slaughtered peaceful Turks. Condemning the recognition of the "genocide" by the French Senate, Mr. Kurkcioglu said the Center would investigate the massacre unleashed by the French in Algeria and place the discovered facts in the world wide web.
According to the documents available to the Center, in 1919 the Ottoman Empire submitted a memorandum to the Paris Conference reporting on the extermination of 500,000 Turkish Muslims by Armenians.
The true account of the developments at the dawn of the century is described by French historian Larcher in his "Turkish battle in the World War", by George de Malevile in his "Ottoman-Russian-Armenian tragedy of 1915", etc.By Dursun Ozden Azernews Istanbul correspondent
