TWO AZERIS REPATRIATED FROM ARMENIAN CAPTIVITY
The International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) assisted in the repatriation of two Azerbaijani nationals, a military serviceman and a civilian, from Armenia to Azerbaijan on Wednesday following the request of the authorities.
Before their hand-over, both confirmed to the ICRC delegates their willingness to be repatriated to Azerbaijan.
The repatriation took place in the Gazakh region, with the full cooperation of the Azeri and Armenian authorities. The ICRC, in conformity with its mandate, has assisted the authorities in organizing repatriations in the region since 1992 and stands ready to provide further support to any such operation, the ICRC Baku office said.
AZERI JOURNALISTS BACK FROM ARMENIA
A 6-people delegation of the Azerbaijan journalistic association, "Yeni Nasil", has recently come back from Armenia, where the Azeri delegates were attending the third and last workshop for Azeri, Armenian and Turkish journalists. The workshop focused on "The role of press in coverage and settlement of conflicts" and "The press image of foe", as the parties centered on the Garabagh conflict and the Armenian genocide.
Chairman of "Yeni Nasil" Arif Aliyev told Azernews Friday that the discussions had been blistering and heavy, but without any incidents. Some 10 interviews were broadcast on Armenian TV during the visit, which lasted from September 7 till 10.
The journalists decided to sign a protocol in October in Turkey at the outcomes of the three workshops to stress the necessity of holding such meetings, study of local press, etc.
