ASDP CO-CHAIRMAN SUES NEWSPAPER
Co-chairman of the Azerbaijan Social Democratic Party Araz Alizadeh told a news conference at the party's headquarters Tuesday that he had sued the "Sas" newspaper for what he believes was the insult of his honor and personal dignity.
According to him, the newspaper has misused the information spread by the party defectors. A. Alizadeh said two members of the party had decided, in violation of its bylaws, to "estrange Araz and Zardusht Alizadeh brothers from chairmanship", assumed the leadership and even attempted to convene an extraordinary congress. A. Alizadeh described the decision by only two party members as illegitimate.
PFPA DEMANDS URGENT MEASURES
The increasing cases of insufficient food and water in the army, high fatality of soldiers resulting from various diseases and suicides and rampant bribery in the military have urged the Popular Front Party to issues a statement Tuesday.
The party demands that the authorities immediately investigate such cases and take urgent measures.
DEMCONGRESS CONDEMNS POLITICAL CRACKDOWN
In a meeting on Monday, the Democratic Congress-1 complained on the disregard of the authorities for the demise anniversary of Azerbaijan's former president Abulfaz Elchibay. Speakers at the meeting underscored that the regime does nothing to perpetuate the leader of the national liberation movement.
DemCongress condemned the way police dealt with the street march attempt on Elchibay's demise anniversary on August 22, as well as on the anniversary of occupation of Jabrayil and Fuzuli provinces.
8 protesters, including chairman of the Garabagh Liberation Organization Akif Nagi, were arrested, head of the DemCongress Isa Gambar told a news briefing Monday.
