PNIA SUES MINISTRY FOR ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT
The Party of National Independence (PNIA) has filed a suit against the Ministry for Economic Development. The party is asking the Economic Court to eliminate the obstacles being set up for the occupancy of the building at 179 Azadlig.
In the suit, the political entity says that the ministry has absolutely no grounds to unilaterally violate the lease agreement.
VAHDAT GETTING RID OF THE RECALCITRANT?
4 members of the Vahdat Party who were demanding resignation of the party chairman Tahir Karimli and chairman of the council of elders Haji Jabrayil Alizadeh have been expelled from the party. Besides, deputy chairman Zakir Abbas, as well as chairman of the control and revision commission and its two members, outright supporters of the coup plotters, have been dismissed, while their expulsion is up to the local organizations of the party, chairman of its Supreme Mejlis Shafag Panahi told a news conference Monday.
HUMAN RIGHTS GROUPS PLEAD FOR MERCY
10 human rights organizations have issued a joint statement following the arrest of the founder of "Ulus" newspaper Yagub Abbasov and its chief editor Surkhay Gojayev, both members of the ADP political council, a source from the party told Azernews Monday. The arrested are charged with beating their former female colleague.
The statement describes the arrest as "crackdown on free press intended to suffocate the freedom of speech" and demands an immediate change of the preventive punishment.
REPUBLICANS, ADALAT INTERESTED IN CO-OP
In a meeting of the political council of the Adalat Party and the management board of the Republican Party, held at the Adalat headquarters Monday, the chairman of the Republican Party Rufiz Gonagov said his party was interested in cooperating with Adalat.
Chairman of Adalat Ilyas Ismayilov voiced his readiness for cooperation with all political forces that struggle for national interests, a source from Adalat told Azernews Monday.
The parties decided to make such meetings more frequent.
BRITISH AMBASSADOR SAYS SOLUTION UP TO PEOPLE
The British ambassador to Azerbaijan Andrew Tucker met with the chairman of the Civil Unity Party MP Igbal Agazadeh Friday, as the diplomat said his country was not satisfied with the course of democratic processes in Azerbaijan.
"I am deeply concerned with the Shaki and Garabagh war invalids trials. Such things do not exist in Europe", Mr. Tucker said.
Concerning the settlement of the Garabagh conflict, the ambassador said solution is up to the Azeri people.
