ARMENIAN SPECIAL FORCES INVOLVED IN ADP RALLIES?
Chairman of the Supreme Council of the Azerbaijan Democratic Party (ADP) Nuraddin Mammadli sent a letter to the Azeri ambassador to Russia Ramiz Rizayev Saturday with regard to a publication in the "Echo" newspaper.
It is remembered that in an interview with "Echo", head of the Russian Muslim Committee Heidar Jamal claimed that Armenian special forces are supporting the ADP rallies and those who back Rasul Guliyev are interested in degrading internal stability in Azerbaijan.
N. Mammadli says in the letter that he is wondering why H. Jamal won't pass the facts on alleged connection of Rasul Guliyev with Armenian special forces to relevant bodies if these facts ever exist. N. Mammadli assesses the allegations as an aspiration to do the Azeri authorities a service and demands that the Azeri ambassador take measures, having a denial published and H. Jamal arraigned.
OPPOSITION SAYS IT IS TIME TO UNITE
A roundtable, "It is high time opposition united", was held at the Press Club on Thursday on the initiative of youth entities of political parties and public organizations. Youths said that if opposition leaders rejected uniting, they would take the helm to save the country.
Attending the roundtable, chairman of the "Adalat" party Ilyas Ismayilov and chairman of the PFPA reform wing Ali Karimov spoke of the necessity of uniting the opposition to solve such a nationwide problem as the Garabagh conflict.
Organizers of the event regretted the absence of chairperson of the Azerbaijan Liberal Party Lala Shovkat, chairman of the PNIA Etibar Mammadov and others, who were earlier invited to the roundtable.
JOINT PROTEST ACTION TALKS FAIL
Chairman of the Supreme Mejlis of the Azerbaijan Democratic Party Nuraddin Mammadli told journalists Friday that negotiations with opposition leaders over a joint protest action had yielded no fruit, as talks started by the Union of Pro-Azerbaijan Forces, of which ADP is a member, with the Liberal Party and the DemCongress-1 collapsed. Explaining why DemCongress-2 was not involved in the negotiations, N. Mammadli said the union does not struggle against the current regime.
N. Mammadli believes that ADP is the only force fighting against current authorities and organizing protest actions. The party retains the right to hold public, he said.
