ELCHIBAY's BIRTHDAY MARKED AS TURKISM HOLIDAY
A presentation ceremony of a CD disk, "Integral Azerbaijan", was held at the "Absheron" hotel on the 63rd birthday anniversary of the late ex-president, leader of Azerbaijan's national liberation movement and the whole Turkic world, Abulfaz Elchibay on Monday.
Chairman of the central council of the Organization for Integral Azerbaijan Arif Rahimoglu told the ceremony that the CD had been prepared on the order and supervision of Abulfaz Elchibay proper.
Meanwhile, parties included in DemCongress-1 and 2 paid tribute to the late Elchibay at the Alley of Honors separately, as rallies attended by visitors from Turkey and other countries were arranged. Speakers underscored the role Elchibay played in the national liberation movement of the whole Turkic world and the struggle for Azerbaijan's unity.
The Elchibay Forum issued a medal for services to Turkism, which was this year awarded to renowned scholar, Elchibay's mentor Muhammad Taghi Zehtabi (posthumously), Turkish poet Yavuz Bulent Bakiler and the leader of the national liberation movement of Crimean Tartars, Mustafa Jamil Krimoglu.
Elchibay was also commemorated in his native village of Kalaki, Nakhchivan, as commemorations that stated on June 24 will complete on June 30.
