MUGHAM CENTEROPENS IN BERLIN
Turkish national Abdulgadir Inaltekin, owner of the "Mugham Co. Ltd." in Baku, has opened a Mugham center in Berlin. The opening ceremony of the center was attended by renowned Mugham masters Malakkhanum Ayyubova, Aygun Bayramova, Mohlat Muslimova, and Fahraddin Dadashov.
The traditional red ribbon was cut off by Azerbaijan's ambassador to Germany Husseinagha Sadikhov. The center is intended to promote Azerbaijan's ancient art.
AZERI SCRIPT-WRITER CONFERRED FRENCH AWARD
A renowned Azeri playwright and script-writer Rustam Ibrahimbayov has been conferred the "Order of Literature and Art" of the French Ministry of Culture. The ceremony has been held at the French embassy in Baku. Addressing it, French ambassador Jean-Pierre Guinhut said the prize is conferred for exceptional contributions to world literature and art. He added that R. Ibrahimbayov is famous not only in Azerbaijan, but also far outside it.
Then, the ambassador read a message of congratulation by the French Minister of Culture Catherine Tasqua and handed him the order and diploma.
The PA CE spokesman on Azerbaijan Mr. Jacques Bomelle stressed the role the Azeri scrip-writer has played in establishing cultural relations between Azerbaijan and France.
R. Ibrahimbayov is the third Azeri to receive the order, after chairman of the Union of Artists Farhad Khalilov and president of Baku Music Academy Farhad Badalbayli.
BAKU TO HOST TURKSOY MEETING
The 15th meeting of "Turksoy" (organization of Turkic culture ministers) is due in Baku January 16-17 to be attended by culture ministers of 14 Turkic states and autonomous entities. The meeting will finalize the work done and outline plans for the future. The Ministry of Culture told AssA-Irada Tuesday that an exhibition of young Turkic artists will be held as part of the meeting.
