RIVALRY FOR PARTY LEADERSHIP
The Civil Unity Party is expected to turn one year on May 6. A statement the party has issued on this occasion says its organizing committee, functioning since March 23, 2000, initially included 23 people, 17 of whom are now members of a wing led by Igbal Aghazadeh, while the rest of the party backs ex-president Ayaz Mutallibov.
The former wing has ousted pro-Mutallibov members for what it believes was serving Russia's interests.
SECONDARY SCHOOL PROBLEMS DISCUSSED
Low salaries, poor level of teaching, bad quality of textbooks, bribery, as well as widespread propaganda of various religious sects by missionaries in schools were discussed Saturday at a roundtable "Safeguarding national values: clothing in secondary schools".
The discussion was organized on the initiative of the Civil Unity Party and attended by representatives of political parties, students and teachers, as well as youth organizations.
In conclusion of the discussions, calls were made to put an end to bribery and politicization of the education, introduce a standard school uniform, provide Russian language the same status as other foreign languages, etc.
ISLAMIC PARTY DEMANDS END TO MISINFORMATION
There have been misleading official publications of late whereby certain government officials have described such destructive forces as Wahabi, Bahai and Krishna as having to do with Islam in an attempt to portray as enemies those safeguarding the moral values and national mentality, the Azerbaijan Islam Party said in a statement Thursday.
Authors of the statement argue that there are no grounds for misleading public opinion by defaming the Islamic Party, as its members are not expatriates but Azeri nationals ready to join the struggle against missionaries.
The party unequivocally states that any idea threatening national independence, territorial integrity and stability should be nipped in the bud.
INTER-DENTAL STIMULATORS AND IRRIGATORS
By Jabbar Hasanov Head of "Implant Dent" clinic
(Continued from previous issue)
Inter-dental rubber stimulators are widely applied to take care of mouth cavity. The instrument mainly serves to massage the gums and clean the inter-dental space. Inter-dental stimulators are made of rubber, have a different extent of toughness and color, and are fixed to the toothbrush handle. The shape of the inter-dental stimulator enables to massage not only the gum, but also the inter-dental space. The tool is slightly pressed against the gum and then circular movements are made in order to drive the stimulator into the inter-dental space.
Various hydro-massagers (irrigators) have also become quite popular of late. Irrigation of the mouth cavity is carried out with the aid of a constant or pulsating spurt of tepid water under pressure, which is generated by a compressor. Liquid medicines, aromatic substances and boiled vegetative medicines can be added to the water supplied for irrigation. The pulsating stream has the best effect. Hydro-massage has the cleaning and massaging influence, as well as curative effect which largely depends on the content of medicines hooked to the unit. The duration of the procedure per one jaw is 5-10 minutes.
Tooth pastes are divided in two groups: hygienic pastes (possessing only deodorant and cleaning qualities). They are prescribed to people with ideal mouths, as they do include neither calcium nor phosphorus. Prophylactic tooth-pastes are divided into anti-caries (containing calcium and fluoride) and anti-inflammation.
