Opposition outlines Garabagh settlement principles

Political parties members of the DemCongress-1, together with independent experts, focused on ways of resolving the Armenian-Azerbaijan conflict at the Press Club Friday, as participants mainly spoke of 4 principles to be adhered to in breaking the stalemate.
The first principle rules out any compromise in regard to national sovereignty and territorial integrity. It says that any resolution contradicting the Azerbaijan Constitution and international legal norms is unacceptable and doomed to fail.
The second principle envisions raising the issue in the UN SC and developing an international legal mechanism to enforce 4 SC resolutions. It demands that the UN SC recognize Armenia as aggressor and apply appropriate sanctions.
The third principle demands Armenia to re-accommodate the Azeris deported from Armenia and provide them a legal status equal to the one intended for ethnic Armenians of Upper Garabagh. It calls for Armenia's reimbursing the moral and material damage it has inflicted on Azerbaijan.
The fourth principle demands to hold accountable those guilty of ethnic cleansing in Armenia and the occupied territories of Azerbaijan.
The Musavat leader Isa Gambar, chairman of the "Ahrar" party Vagif Hajibayli, independent political analyst Rasim Musabayov and former foreign minister Tofiq Zulfugarov highlighted the importance of such public discussions.
