BP AZERBAIJAN IS SEEKING ENVIRONMENTAL ADVISERS

BP has been in Azerbaijan since day one of the country's new oil era and over the last decade has become the leading operator in this country. Our success depends on making progressive and distinctive contribution to every activity safely and without damage to the environment.

In Azerbaijan the company operates four oil and gas exploration and development contracts: the Azeri, Chirag and Deepwater Gunashli (ACG) where the Chirag portion of the contract area is currently producing and undergoing further development and work is currently undergoing on the ACG Phase 1 project which is aimed to develop the Azeri portion of the contract area; the Shah Deniz contract area where a world-class gas condensate discovery was made in 1999 and work is currently ongoing on the plans to develop the field; Inam signed in 1998 and the first exploration well to be completed this year; Araz-Alov-Sharg signed in 1998 and first exploration well to be drilled in the future. In addition BP is the operator of the Baku-Tbilisi-Ceyhan oil export pipeline project to deliver Caspian oil to the Mediterranean.

BP is seeking Environmental Advisers to support the Azeri-Chirag-Gunashli Phase 1 development project; the Baku-Tbilisi-Ceyhan oil export pipeline project and the Shah Deniz gas offshore development and onshore pipeline projects.

The Environmental Adviser will support the Project Environmental and Social Impact Assessment (ESIA) Managers in the delivery of the ESIAs for these significant oil and gas development and export projects.

Requirements:

A diploma or degree and strong background in environmental science/engineering discipline/related field, experience in oil and gas related environmental impact assessment processes or associated studies and surveys, knowledge of marine, coastal and onshore ecosystems, practical experience working within the oil and gas industry, experience of working with international organizations.

Good levels of written and oral English skills, fluent Azeri and Russian; the ability and desire to learn and apply knowledge in a rapid response environment.

The post will require the candidate to demonstrate excellent inter-disciplinary communication and interpersonal skills in a multi-cultural work force environment. The candidate must demonstrate good team playing characteristics and excellent interpersonal skills.
