First saudi ambassador takes office

The newly appointed first ambassador of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia to Azerbaijan Ali Hasan Ahmad Jafar handed his letter-of-credentials to President Aliyev Saturday.
This is Royal Kingdom’s first ambassador to Azerbaijan.
The diplomat pledged to do his best to further develop bilateral relations and reiterated his country's intransigent position with regard to the Kingdom's permanent support for Azerbaijan's fair cause in the Upper Garabagh conflict. He also passed a letter from the King of Saudi Arabia to President Aliyev.
The head of state urged the ambassador to facilitate implementation of the agreement signed during Azeri President's official visit to the Kingdom in 1994.
H. Aliyev made no secret of his discontent with the level of bilateral economic relations given the available potentialities.
The President voiced his appreciation for the support for Azerbaijan position in international organizations.
