Baku-Ceyhan may start in Kazakhstan

The Baku-Tbilisi-Ceyhan Main Export Pipeline for the transportation of Caspian oil stands a good chance of being extended till Kazakhstan to become Aktau-Baku-Tbilisi-Ceyhan. In any case, it is already clear that feasibility study of the project will be developed within 2 years, to be followed by construction of the pipeline, which is expected to complete in 2004-2005.
According to a source from Kazakhstan, this was announced in a recent meeting of the special counselor for the US president and secretary of state for Caspian energy diplomacy Elizabeth Jones with President Nazarbayev of Kazakhstan.*
