Azerbaijan intends to buy Iranian gas

4 billion cubic meters of gas are needed to satisfy the domestic demands of Azerbaijan. During the last visit to Iran, the Azeri delegation held initial talks with the Iranian party for the purchase of 2 billion cubic meters of gas, a source at SOCAR told AssA-Irada Wednesday.
The gas, produced domestically and exported from Russia doesn’t meet the demands. It prompts the government to import natural gas from Iran. If a relative agreement is concluded, the gas will be imported through Astara and Julfa towns of Azerbaijan.*
