Dinosaur fossils found in Mingachevir

A large cemetery of dinosaurs has been recently found in the vicinity of Mingachevir. Skeletons of these ancient giants have remained nearly intact, a research worker of the Institute of Archeology and Ethnography under the Academy of Sciences Hasanagha Ramazanli told AssA-Irada Monday. The cemetery was discovered by a Mingachevir resident Lutvali Babayev.

To date, dinosaur remains have been found in the Crimea, Uzbekistan, Mongolia and other parts of the world. The recent discovery is the first of its kind in the Caucasus, Mr. Ramazanli said.

As is known, the dinosaur appeared on the earth 230 million years before the new era and fell into extinction 70 million years ago.*
