 | Memorandum signed in Astana |
The “Memorandum on mutual understanding for the Aktau-Baku-Tbilisi-Ceyhan oil transportation project” was signed in Astana, March 1, following the negotiations among Azerbaijan, Georgia, Turkey, the US and Kazakhstan.
By signing the document, the parties voiced their intention to hold soonest talks and to prepare a package of necessary agreements, which is believed to accelerate involvement of oil companies, active in Kazakhstan, in the project.
Also under discussion in Astana were issues pertaining to establishing an environment in Kazakhstan, similar to that, set up for the investors of the Baku-Tbilisi-Ceyhan MEP in Azerbaijan, Georgia and Turkey.*
