Breakdown in Absheron sub-station

A breakdown hit the Absheron power sub-station in Khyrdalan, 40 km off Baku, in the early hours of Wednesday, as a stormy wind felled down a 500-kilovolt electricity transmission line, Azerenergy said in a statement Wednesday.
This second Absheron line from the Azerbaijan Regional Power Station is intended to energize Baku and its environs. There are three more high-voltage cables to supply Absheron Peninsula with electricity.
The malfunction was immediately spotted by a duty officer in the sub-station. Maintenance brigades from Azerenergy were working all night under harsh weather conditions, replacing the affected stretch of the cable and eliminating malfunctions in the transformer in the height of 40 meters, the joint stock company said.*
