Two killed in Dada Gorgud accident
BP regrets that at approximately 4.30 Friday morning, two oil workers were killed in an accident on the Dada Gorgud drilling rig during operations on the Inam exploration well while working on the rig floor.
Operations on the rig have been suspended pending the outcome of a full investigation.
The bodies of the two men - both employees of the Caspian Drilling Company (CDC) - have been flown back to Baku. Their next of kin have been informed. BP and CDC are cooperating fully with the authorities in the investigation.
“BP are deeply saddened by the tragic accident and extend our heartfelt sympathies to the relatives of the two men,” said Gordon Birrell, BP’s Azerbaijan Exploration Business Unit leader. “We will do everything possible to determine the exact cause of this accident, so that all necessary steps can be taken to maintain operations to the highest levels of safety.”*
