War handicapped released from custody
Only 50 of 300 people arrested on February 19 during a street march of the Society of the Garabagh Handicapped were the handicapped, 20 of whom have been released after paying a fine, chairman of the Society Etimad Asadov told AssA-Irada Friday.
Touching upon the 8-year work of the Society, Mr. Asadov dismissed the report by the law-enforcement bodies on an alleged financial fraud by the Society.
According to him, the Society has temporarily left its office and is now domiciled in its Binagadi district branch. Mr. Asadov voiced a hope that the Society would return to normal work soon.
"If our demands are not complied within 3 months, we will resume struggle again", he said.
Mr. Asadov said a human rights committee of the society members had been set up, which includes MPs, writers and renowned intellectuals.*
