 | War handicapped cease strike |
At 1.30 p.m. on Wednesday, the Garabagh war handicapped stopped the hunger strike and left the building of the society.
During talks with the deputy sheriff of Baku Yashar Aliyev a day earlier, chairman of the society Etimad Aliyev had promised to terminate the action provided that all the arrested participants of the February 19 street clashes are released. Y. Aliyev, in turn, demanded that the action be stopped unconditionally.
E. Asadov announced on Wednesday that he is ready to acquiesce to the law-enforcement and, together with other protesters, left the society building, which has been taken over by the Binagadi district executive authorities.
It is remembered that a special state commission has been set up to study the problems of the handicapped and issue proposals within three months.*
