Azeri team wins Ertoba Cup
The quick-witted team of Azerbaijan State Economic Institute, “Azerbaijani Character”, has won the Caucasus Youth Center Cup “Ertoba” after beating Sukhumi State University team, says director of the Caucasus Youth Center “Birlik” Elyura Mammadova.
According to her, this was a friendly match, a part of inter-cultural relations, held on the initiative of Caucasus Youth Centers of Azerbaijan and Georgia, as well as the Youth Association of Azerbaijan. The contest was entitled “Caucasus in the 21st century” and aimed to encourage Caucasus youngsters to contribute to peace processes through the unification of Caucasus youth and a common youth policy.
Participants of the contest held meetings at the Azerbaijan embassy in Georgia, Georgian Ministry of Culture, Cabinet of Ministers, State Youth Department and the Abkhazian Youth Department to focus on issues of cooperation among Caucasus youth centers and establishment of an international organization.
Besides, youngsters developed a number of joint projects such as Days of Culture of Azerbaijan in Georgia, three-stage training on conflict studies, etc.
In the future, “Birlik” intends to hold a forum, “Caucasus Youth - for world culture and dialog among civilizations in the third millennium”, and an inter-cultural meetings “Caucasus House”. Both events are funded by the UN and COE.*
