 | Amnesty becomes effective |
The first document to be ratified by the Milli Mejlis Thursday was the Law “On amnesty on the occasion of acceptance to the Council of Europe”. According to the acting chairman of the permanent commission on issues of legal policy and state construction Ali Husseinov, the amnesty covers around 9,000 people, including 2,300 prisoners will be released from reformatories, the incarceration term of 800 will be halved, 1,300 criminal cases will be closed, sentences of 4,400 people will be relieved. The act will be executed within 4 months.*
