Residents to be compensated for air pollution

All physical and legal entities, Azerbaijan nationals, expatriates and persons without nationality have equal rights for receiving compensation for the damage sustained as a result of environment pollution. This is promulgated by the draft law “On protection of atmospheric air” discussed Tuesday by the permanent commission of the Milli Mejlis on natural resources, energy and ecology.

The draft law, comprising 7 parts and 30 articles, says that environmental programs and activities are funded from the state budget, local budgets and out-of-budget funds.

The commission has decided to forward the draft law “On protection of the atmospheric air” to the Milli Mejlis for the second hearing.*
