 | Handicapped, war-victim families housed |
50 disabled of the Garabagh war and Chernobyl catastrophe, as well as war-victim families, received keys to individual houses in the Mehdiabad settlement of Baku in a ceremony attended by President Aliyev. Construction of the houses was sponsored by the social security foundation under the Ministry of Labor and Social Security of the Population. The job cost more than AZM2 billion.
Minister for labor and social security Ali Nagiyev told the ceremony that 350 families had received such houses in the past 4 years, with 80 more on the stand-by list this year.
Vice-premier, chairman of the working group on the problems of the handicapped Ali Hasanov said the president had had issued 19 decrees on social protection for the disabled in the past 7 years, that the government had implemented 56 resolutions, that the handicapped enjoy numerous privileges, which cost the government AZM71 billion a year.
President Aliyev congratulated the house-warmers saying that the handicapped enjoy the state’s and government’s permanent care. He then instructed the minister for communication to run telephone lines to the houses, health minister to take care of medical problems of the disabled and education minister to build a school.
In conclusion, the President toured the houses and chatted with residents.*
