New web available on United Nations Year of Dialogue among Civilizations

An new Web site entitled "United Nations Year of Dialogue among Civilizations 2001" is now available on the UN home page at www.un.org/Dialogue. Prepared by the Department of Public Information in all six United Nations official languages, the Dialogue among Civilizations site contains information and news regarding the Year, encourages and facilitates worldwide dialogue through interactive pages.

In 1998, the General Assembly proclaimed the year 2001 as the "United Nations Year of Dialogue among Civilizations" (resolution 53/22).

The resolution was proposed by Seyed Mohammad Khatami, President of Iran, and supported by a large number of Member States.*
