Gabala RLS status remains open

The agreement on the status of the Gabala Radio Location Station was not, contrary to expectations, signed during Russian President Putin’s visit to Azerbaijan. Defense Minister Safar Abiyev told journalists Wednesday that the parties had decided to calculate the ecological damage being inflicted by the station. Afterwards, appropriate decisions will be made.
His Russian counterpart Igor Sergeyev said, in turn, there are no ecological problems. “I think we can find methodological foundation for a joint in-depth study of the ecological impact and issue objective data”, he said.*
