Fire erupted inside a warehouse leased by British transport company “Murphy” in the Sabunchu district of Baku at 4 a.m. Monday.
The fire broke out inside the building, then enveloped the metal structure, which caused the roof to collapse as a result of deformation.
Chief of the fire-fighting department of the State Fire Safety Office Rafiq Suleymanov told AssA-Irada that stored in the building were barrels with motor oils and paints, furniture, paper rolls, and metal sheets. A part of the oil cans have been salvaged, preventing the fire to spread to nearby containers.
The fire, which encompassed a total of 1,600-1,800 square meters, was put out at 7 a.m. with no casualties reported. The cost of the caused damage is being calculated.
Specialists say the fire resulted from an arson, which followed a robbery.*
