Circus to become part of Russian Circus Union
Azeri and Russian ministers for culture P. Bul-Bul Oglu and M. Shvydkoy have held talks over the inclusion of the Baku Circus into the conveyer system of the Russian Circus Union. The move, expected in September, is going to promote the circus development in Azerbaijan, director of the Circus Magbet Bunyadov told AssA-Irada Monday.
Having been closed at the end of the season, the Baku Circus will undergo a major renovation before it reopens in September. The renovation requires $1 million. The money is not available in bulk, therefore, the circus will be repaired in parts.
Last year the renovation affected the hall and the lobby. Now it is the turn of the animal premises, boiler house, dormitory, the building facade and the roofing, which will take AZM100-150 million.
The Baku Mayor has promised to allocate the funds on a stage-by-stage basis, M. Bunyadov said.*
