Symposium of GUUAM commerce chambers starts in Baku

The role of Chambers of Commerce and Industry in transitional economies and ways of boosting regional economic cooperation were discussed Thursday during a two-day regional symposium of the GUUAM chambers of commerce at Hyatt Regency Hotel of Baku.

Prime Minister Arthur Rasizadeh read President Aliyev’s welcoming address to the symposium participants and expressed his confidence that the meeting would facilitate economic cooperation among GUUAM member-states.

“Our key objective is to step up relations between customs and tax bodies, to establish extensive legal framework for prolific entrepreneurial activities within GUUAM”, he said.

The symposium is being held in 5 thematic working groups. A final communiqué will be adopted afterwards.

Attending the event are chairmen of Chambers of Commerce and Industry and businessmen from GUUAM member-states, as well as representatives of Turkey, Kazakhstan, Lithuania, Latvia, Hungary, Romania, Czech Republic, and Slovakia.*
