 | Mountain climbers conquer new heights |
37 Azeri mountain climbers have returned to Baku after conquering a 3,857m mountain top in the Bazarduzu mountain chain in northern Azerbaijan. The top has been named as Olympic Top and emblems of the National Olympic Committee hoisted atop, according to the mountain climbers’ club Saridan Mursagulov.
This is the eighth nameless mountain top to be climbed by Azeri sportsmen after the country gained independence in 1991.
According to Mr. Mursagulov, on May 9 a group of climbers from Azerbaijan, Turkey and Georgia will start a climb on top of the 3,763m Heydar Zirvasi.*
