UNDP, Customs Committee to assess progress of the joint data transmission network project
At a special conference in the Hyatt Regency Hotel on January 4, UNDP and State Customs Committee (SCC) will assess progress of the joint project aimed at strengthening capacity of the Committee and establishing a customs data transmission network in the country.
The conference will discuss the advantages of the data transmission network and the possibility of its utilization not only by Customs but also by other state and private organizations. The one-day conference will be opened by the senior management of the SCC and the UNDP office in Azerbaijan and is expected to be attended by the relevant state bodies including law-enforcement authorities and private sector (oil companies, small and medium-size enterprises) involved in the realization of the project.
UNDP and the Government of Azerbaijan signed the project document on capacity-building of the SCC and Data Transmission Network Implementation on January 22, 1999. The current budget of the project is the State Customs Committee of which $325,000 contributes $575,000.*
