Azerbaijan voices protest to Iran

Baku has sent a protest note to the borderline commissioner of Iran in the wake of the April 24 terrorist act on the Azeri-Iranian border, according to the Ministry for National Security spokesman Araz Gurbanov.
The terrorist act took place in the vicinity of Zahmatabad village of Jalilabad, as Azeri frontier troops, in an attempt to stop a group of unidentified trespassers from Iran, faced stiff armed resistance. One of the Azeri frontier guards Ramil Lalayev was severely wounded and soon died. After an alarm signal, the garrison soldiers came to the rescue of frontier guards and made the assailants retreat.
Investigation into the incident is underway.
This is not the first border trespassing attempt on part of Iranian citizens.*
