 | CSC raising freight turnover |
In the first quarter of 2001, the Caspian Shipping Company (CSC) vessels transported 2,332,000 tons of various consignments, or 116.3% of the plan, according to a CSC source.
The projections were over-fulfilled by 327,000 tons, while last year’s indicator by 340,000 tons. Most of the cargoes, around 70% or 1,631,000 tons, were transported by tankers, 313,000 tons by dry-cargo vessels and 388,000 tons by ferry-boats.
The bulk of consignments, 2,024,000 tons, were transported within the Caspian basin, while the rest – in the Azov, Black Sea, Mediterranean and other basins. The CSC has also transported 2,300 passengers.*
