A photo exhibition of Baku and Absheron sights opened at the Absheron Private Gallery Thursday. The exposition features 85 photographs. The photograph taken by Yusif Rasulov shows the Uchug Gala fortress in the village of Shagan with a 22-meter tower, highest on Absheron. The half-ruined Shagan fortress symbolizes the plight of most of Azerbaijan's monuments today.
Another exhibition participant, Israfil Hasanov, displayed the pictures of a bullet-scarred wall and of a staircase with unusually high steps. The well is thought to have witnessed the March 1918 massacre, when Armenian Dashnak Bolsheviks gunned down thousands of unarmed Azeris, while the high steps signify that our ancestors were tall and robust. Both monuments are located in the Shirvanshah Palace.
7 other photos about the Palace are displayed. Many of the exhibition participants have featured the Maiden’s Tower.*
