 | Azerbaijan won’t be censured, opposition says |
If Azerbaijan decides to liberate its occupied territories in a military way, it will not be subject to international pressure, opposition representatives told a round-table on Garabagh and International Law held by the Union for Liberation of Garabagh Tuesday.
Chairman of "Vahdat" party Tahir Karimli said he thinks Azerbaijan should notify the UN of its intention to liberate the annexed lands and announce martial law in the country. On the other hand, if the country admits the impossibility of a peace settlement, the UN, governed by Article 33 of its Charter, may apply military sanctions against Armenia.
He mentioned that Article 111 of the Azerbaijan Constitution stipulates a forcible liberation of the occupied territories.
Representatives of various political parties attended the discussion.*
