 | Best Azeri athletes in 2000 chosen |
The Ministry of Youth and Sports has chosen best Azeri athletes, coaches and sport-related figures of the year 2000.
The list of best athletes of 2000 is topped by medallists of the 27th Sydney Olympic Games: Namiq Abdullayev (gold medal in wrestling), Zemfira Meftahaddinova (gold medal in skeet shooting) and Vugar Alakbarov (bronze medal in boxing). They are followed by 10 other athletes, best coaches, referees and two sport journalists.
Also announced have been 10 best athletes of the 20th century among women, men and coaches.*
