750 historical monuments in Armenian occupation
750 historical monuments are located in Armenia-occupied Azeri territories, according to the chairman of the department for restoration of monuments under the Ministry of Culture Fakhraddin Miralayev.
He said 6 of them represent international importance: 2 Khudafarin bridges in Jabrayil dating back to 11-12th centuries, the 14th century Khachin mausoleum in Aghdam, the 13th century Ganzarsar monastery in Aghdara, the 1751 Shusha city, and the 7-8th century Khudavang monastery in Kalbajar. The monuments have are not yet registered by UNESCO, which requires considerable expenses.
The Old City of Baku (Ichari Shahar) was included into the UNESCO register only in November of 2000. An international UNESCO conference on the Old City is due in Baku in June.*
