Anti-monopoly measures in store for banking sector

Little attention has thus far been paid to the anti-monopoly legislation in financial and banking sectors. As a result, only the International Bank of Azerbaijan, which executes 53% of all banking transactions of the country, has been registered as monopolist bank. A source from the state committee for anti-monopoly policy and support for entrepreneurship told AssA-Irada Saturday that it would take measures to prevent monopolization in the financial and banking sectors.
96 organizations, mostly private, are registered as monopolists.*
