"Black Sea market profitable", SOCAR says

With regard to the numerous proposed Caspian oil transportation projects, SOCAR president Natiq Aliyev has said “it is more profitable for Azerbaijan to sell its oil in the Black Sea. He told AssA-Irada in an exclusive interview that not a single transportation route located outside Azerbaijan can affect the work of the country’s oil and gas sector.
In his words, Azerbaijan and its partners are supplying oil to Supsa and Novorossiysk and it is up to buyers to decide where to transport the oil from there.
At the same time, N. Aliyev did not rule out the possibility of a mutually beneficial agreement on direct supplies with a European customer. Only in that case will it be possible to say whether or not the transportation route is profitable.*
